Dorchester School District Four will recognize three outstanding employees as the district’s December Everyday Heroes during the January Board of Trustees meeting. The Everyday Hero program honors staff members whose dedication, character, and daily service strengthen schools and support student success. Honorees receive a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative coin from Superintendent Jeffery Beckwith.
The first honoree is Latisha Brown, Student Concern Specialist and After-School Director at Woodland Middle School. Mrs. Brown was nominated by Assistant Principal Markayla Busby, who praised her passion, strength, and steady presence across campus. Mrs. Brown consistently steps in wherever she is needed, whether serving as a substitute teacher, energizing the school community, or supporting students beyond her assigned role. She treats students as her own, balancing care, high expectations, and firm guidance that helps them grow academically and personally. Her influence reaches far beyond the classroom through daily encouragement, redirection, and genuine connection. Her commitment and heart make her an essential part of the Woodland Middle School family.
The district will also honor Michael Samson, History Teacher and Student Government Sponsor at Woodland High School. Mr. Samson was nominated by Principal Michael White, who highlighted his strong character, professionalism, and dedication to students. As Student Government sponsor, Mr. Samson cultivates student leadership and school pride with purpose and consistency. In the classroom, he delivers rigorous instruction in U.S. History and AP Human Geography while investing deeply in student success. His positivity, reliability, and collaborative spirit make him a valued team member and a trusted presence within the Woodland High School community.
The final honoree for November is Margie Lewis, DD4 Bus Driver. Mrs. Lewis was nominated by Student Transportation Director Karim Johnson for her 36 years of dedicated service to students at Williams Memorial Elementary School, Woodland Middle School, and Woodland High School. As a longtime member of the Reevesville community, Mrs. Lewis brings a deep personal connection to the students she serves. Her consistent care and conscientious approach help ensure students begin and end each school day safely. Her positive presence and reliability have left a lasting impact on generations of students and families.
Each of these honorees reminds the community that true impact is often found in steady service, quiet leadership, and daily dedication. Dorchester School District Four is grateful for the compassion, commitment, and professionalism these Everyday Heroes bring to the district and the lives they touch each day.
