District Teacher of the year Lacey Ayer posing with $3,000 Check

On Thursday, May 22nd, Dorchester School District Four hosted a remarkable evening of celebration, appreciation, and unity during its Employee Recognition Banquet. Traditionally held as separate events, the district brought together its ceremonies for Retirees, Employees of the Year, and Educator’s Academy Recognitions into one grand occasion, offering a powerful display of gratitude for the individuals who make a difference in the lives of students every day.

The banquet recognized a wide range of honorees, including first-year teachers in the Educator’s Academy, District Employees of the Year, the School Administrator of the Year, Retirees, School-Level Teachers of the Year, Classified Staff of the Year, Rookie Teachers of the Year, and the District Teacher of the Year. It was a fun-filled evening marked by smiles, laughter, and celebration as guests enjoyed delicious food and the company of colleagues, family, and community members.

One of the most memorable highlights of the night was the presentation of a $3,000 check to Mrs. Lacey Ayer, the 2025–2026 Dorchester School District Four Teacher of the Year. The award underscored the district's ongoing commitment to recognizing and rewarding outstanding educators who go above and beyond for their students.

Board Chairperson Phyllis Hughes shared her vision for the district during the event, stating, “My hope is that other school districts will look at what we’re doing in Dorchester School District Four and be inspired to follow our example. We want to set the standard for excellence in education, recognition, and community.”

This special evening served as a heartfelt reminder of the dedication, passion, and excellence that define the staff of Dorchester School District Four. From new teachers just beginning their careers to those retiring after years of service, the district proudly celebrated the impact of every honoree.
