Federal Programs
Dorchester School District Four’s Office of Federal Programs oversees the implementation and compliance of federally funded programs to ensure all students have equitable opportunities to succeed. The office manages Title I, Part A; Title II; Title IV; and Title V in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), approved by the U.S. Congress in December 2015, is the most recent reauthorization of the ESEA of 1965. ESSA provides significant federal support for K–12 education and replaced the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Through these programs, districts like DD4 receive funding to strengthen academic achievement, improve teacher and leader effectiveness, expand access to high-quality learning opportunities, and ensure that students from all backgrounds are supported.
In collaboration with district and school administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders, the Office of Federal Programs assists in developing and managing initiatives that improve instruction and student outcomes. This includes organizing supplemental programs, coordinating professional development opportunities, and providing instructional materials and resources to enhance teaching and learning.
By leveraging federal resources, the Office of Federal Programs ensures that DD4 continues to advance equity, close achievement gaps, and prepare students for success beyond the classroom.
